The American Dental Association recommends having a routine dental checkup and cleaning performed by a dentist twice each year. Here at Pamela Crumrine DDS, we will remove all traces of plaque and hardened tartar from your teeth while examining your mouth for early signs of gum disease, tooth decay and oral cancer.

If we find an area of concern, we will talk with you about your treatment options. Should Dr. Pam Crumrine find bacterial deposits imbedded in the biting surface of your back teeth, she might recommend dental sealants.

The application of dental sealants is a simple procedure that can be done at the end of your dental checkup to ensure that the areas are completely clean of any bacterial matter. Dental sealants are made from a special resin material that Dr. Pam Crumrine paints onto the biting surface of each molar and pre-molar. Then she will use a special ultraviolet light to harden the resin and bond it to the tooth enamel.

Even if bacterial deposits become trapped in the textures of the biting surface, the sealants will prevent them from gaining direct access to the underlying tooth enamel.

Dental sealants are known for being very durable. They can last for up to 10 years and will not wear away from twice-daily brushing.

If you live in the Beaver, Pennsylvania, area and you are interested in dental sealants, you should call today at 724-775-4860 to schedule a checkup at Pamela Crumrine DDS.
